The first term of the 2017 school year at Maua English Medium School has come to an end! All students returned home Tuesday, May 30th for a month long break. The second term will commence on July 3rd.
During this term I was able to introduce some of our new sponsored students to their sponsor(s) through pictures I was sent. The children who had this opportunity loved receiving their pictures and were eager to share them with their friends. This struck interest in nearly all of the students to be able to possibly see pictures of their own sponsors. Whether for the first time or repeated, the children always enjoy updated photos. I encourage anyone interested to send me a picture of you or your family so that I can pass them on to the students as a keepsake from the ones sponsoring their education. Over the next month or so I will be collecting hand written letters and/or drawn pictures from all of your individual sponsored children. I look forward to sharing these with you and giving the children an opportunity connect with you as their sponsors.
Additionally, Update Pictures and Report Cards are now available for you on the database!! Please take the chance to look through these as the kids have been working very hard to keep their grades up!! The report cards can be found in the photo gallery called "Report Cards". Please be advised that this is the last time report cards will be uploaded as images. Moving forward, we will be saving these all in the documents tab along with any letters, drawings, home visit information, and/or other deliverable documents. This will improve some of the quality issues we have seen in the past :)
Lastly, there will be an additional upgrade to the database!! This one is going to allow for photos to be kept much more organized. Currently, you may have noticed that photos can be unorganized in terms of when they were uploaded. We are changing the sorting function within the galleries to sort the photos by when they were uploaded. The newer photos will appear at the top of the gallery. This will be very beneficial for sponsors as it will be much easier to see the students growth throughout the year! As always, if you have any recommendations of how we can make the database better, please let us know! The changes come from people like you giving us feedback :)
