Below you can find examples of how various project types can help expand our organizations community, and ultimately, provide more education to our students and their families.
However, the sky is the limit! Bring your purpose to our passion projects!
Please contact us if you think you might be a good fit for collaboration.
A good example of this is our current educational sponsorship programs in Usa River, Tanzania. These projects have paired sponsors with children who might not otherwise be able to afford school fees. The program also allows sponsors to maintain a connection with the child they support through receiving report cards and other communication. Other examples of projects that promote education might include: projects related to parent literacy or projects related to health education of the families we work with.
An example could be a community sports program for the sponsored students that meets once a week in an after-hours school program. The programs goal would be to provide access to sport mentorship and instruction for any of the students, or potentially expand upon this for the entire families. This would be done by bringing in competent instructors from the community to provide their time and instruct the individuals on a specific skill. This would be followed by a recreational game to practice the skills. Any project which fosters cohesion within a community could fall under this category.
An example would be working with a program set up to provide women living with HIV/AIDs the opportunity to receive business mentorship in an area where the stigma behind the disease causes these individuals to feel lesser of importance to society. This could be the family members of the sponsored student, or the community in general. The intention may not be to set up the program for this case - it could be to support an existing program in Eastern Africa that has a long-standing history of successfully empowering these women to create successful businesses’. and enhance their lives and self-esteems. The specific goal of the project, for example, could be to provide the meals for the women and connect the parents of select students sponsored through Passion Projects to the established HIV support program.
An example of this would be expanding a mental health program in a region where there is still significant stigma against mental illnesses and providing these services to the entire family unit of each student in the sponsorship program. This might involve creating educational workshops to inform people of the signs and treatment of mental illnesses. Similar to HIV, mental health issues have significant stigma throughout the world. Any program which attempts to increase accessibility of mental health care and/or reduce stigma might fall under this category.
The goal of this project is a simple one, make people aware of what the negative effects of pollution include. This is done by setting up artistic representations of what is happening in the oceans with the increased amount of plastic that is not being disposed of properly. This could be provided in an after school session to the students of the sponsorship program. The passion ambassador could also sell the artwork they created in order to fund the project and book new locations to set up the demonstrations.
